My aunt loves this picture and her interest is what inspired the haiku! Birds are extremely fascinating and fastidious creatures. I can observe them all day long and never feel bored 🙂 They have routines and favorite branches and times of day and are creatures of habit. Watching a bird gather twigs and bark to build it’s nest never fails to amaze me! They are very particular about the type and thickness of the fiber they want and will not settle for anything less than perfection! Unless of course they go to the other extreme and steal a nest from another species like the Cuckoos do 😉
Sparrow numbers have decreased considerably over time in India. Researchers think it might have something to do with the rash spate of cellular network towers that have sprung up everywhere. I’m not sure what the reasons are (I’m sure there are many), but I do know that once ubiquitous sparrow is now not so easily seen. Sad isn’t it? Just another case of us humans affecting our environs in a less than favorable way 😦
I hope you have a wonderful start to your weekend! I know I will 🙂
