The 3rd and final catch up post of the Challenge!
When I saw last week’s theme, I sighed in relief! Formless in my head was easy to do – Light, steam, sky, smoke, fire, fog, water…any number of formless things presented themselves!! What I should have realised is that a paucity of ideas andΒ an overload can cause the same reaction – a paralysis of action π As I dithered between this and that, the group erupted with fantastic & innovative interpretations of ‘Formless’. And although it matters not a jot (this is a Challenge not a Competition), I wanted to do something different. I can be stubborn like that. Thankfully the old ‘noggin’ didn’t let me down and I decided to go with Bokeh…the effect you get when you deliberately ‘unfocus’ Light. I remember the days when I first got my DSLR and went rather ‘Berserk over Bokeh’ π (how’s that for some trippy alliteration?). It had been a while since I arranged a shot at home and I had fun setting up the lights and adjusting my subject for the best results. Ultimately I liked two different pictures for two different reasons and had to rely on Photoshop once again for some merging action. I’m enjoying the fact that this Challenge has got me working on post-processing again. It’s a vital part of Photography and great fun!
Here’s the result…
And as always some more perspectives on Formless that I like…
Well Harsha, I must tell you again that your Bokeh image is just great. I haven’y tried my hand at Bokeh, it looks interesting.
Thanks so much Julio π You’re very kind! You should try it…it’s good fun and can be addictive π
The bokeh and candle is gorgeous! But, since we both know I’ve spent more time inside lately than I’d like, my favorite is the misty mountains (or should I capitalize that and make it a proper noun?). I want to spend hours in that photo!
For the record – not one iota surprised that you had to try to come up with something different. If it makes you feel any better, I’ve been coveting a fellow photographer’s work recently. He took a shot of the Milky Way over a famous Michigan waterfall that is the kind of shot I would take…I just haven’t. It sure feels like a competition sometimes, doesn’t it!?
You absolutely should! Capitalise it π But I can see that Spring is making headway in your neck of the woods now π Those blue flowers you posted yesterday were so gorgeous!
I’ve felt my ideas dry up lately
Or perhaps it’s just the ‘noggin’ slowing down with age…every time I think of something, someone’s already posted it…this week’s theme is ‘Markings’ and it should be easy…Markings are everywhere after all…but once again…nothing appeals at the moment and have tried some ideas with less than satisfactory results
And tomorrow is the last day! It’s so strange coz there’s no compulsion to post a picture on every theme, but if I don’t I feel like I’ve let myself down π
Wish me luck! Still have to check out the link you sent me…I assume it’s the same guy? That sounds like a once in a lifetime shot! You’ll get there…meanwhile, you too are the envy of many mon ami π π
Sometimes my ideas dry up, or they arrive and I’m just not interested in picking up the computer. I’ve been trying to make an effort on the weekends to leave the thing on the table and not let myself fall into it. I work on it all day, and then often play on it, because that’s where the blogging and photography work is done. I value all that stuff, but I can be a bit obsessive. So, even though I feel guilty about abandoning my readers and online friends, sometimes I just have to let it go and enjoy what’s right in front of me π
I can’t quite remember the link I sent you, though I do think he was a bird guy. The guy I’m envious of is a different dude π I found him on flickr moons ago, and he’s since made a name for himself. Or at least he has in my mind. Most people don’t know anything about him, but his work has been picked up by the state of Michigan for its tourism advertising. It’s a hugely successful campaign that airs ads and places billboards all over the country. Unfortunately, he’s not credited anywhere by them and I don’t know why. I feel like I’m an insider though, because we’re FB friends though a local camera club and I knew about him before he was famous π Jinkies I’m wordy today!
