Who am I? Loaded question 🙂

I’m not big on labels but seeing as they are unavoidable in said circumstance, here are some I like to use when describing myself, and hope my friends would use when describing me 🙂 The list is not written in stone and will no doubt evolve as I discover new amazing qualities within myself 😉

Having recently moved to Goa from Singapore, I needed an outlet –  to vent, to contemplate, to ruminate. A place I could come to, far from the maddening crowd and relax, be myself. Unfortunately, such a sanctuary, for me, now exists only in the  virtual world!

Not that i’m complaining, I’m addicted to the Internet and enjoy the anonymous freedom it allows. I’ve been blogging for a year or so now at my blog H is for Happiness. Just that as  a ‘Toddler Mom’, I now have no time nor space that is exclusively mine! Signs of toddler habitation abound and the house is littered with scattered toys, pens, coasters, newspapers and anything else that is the ‘fancy of the moment’! Most waking moments are spent feeding, playing, potty training, trying to get him to sleep, feeding again, oops potty again, playing some more…it’s an endless cycle!! I love my boy, but I also love who I was before I was a Mom and so this blog is  a way to hang on to that part of me that I most cherish.

It’s also all about coming home to live with my parents after an eternity apart, the process and all it entails – in short a slice of my life in Goa…

I chose ‘Rhapsody’ ‘coz I love the promise it seems to hold – the way it rolls musically off my tongue, just the right hint of mystery!

Rhapsody: Derived from the Greek word rhaptein = to sew together + ōidē = song

1. Exalted or excessively enthusiastic expression of feeling in speech or writing.

2. A literary work written in an impassioned or exalted style.

3. A state of elated bliss; ecstasy.

4. Music – A freely structured and emotional piece of music, usually instrumental of irregular form that often incorporates improvisation.

5. An ancient Greek epic poem or a portion of one suitable for uninterrupted recitation.

And so this is my Goan Rhapsody – my song of life, replete with emotions, written with  passion.

Have decided to revert back to H is for Happiness as the blog title. Have had enough of the melancholy that threatened to overwhelm my Goan Rhapsody! From now on, I want to concentrate on the good things in Life, of which there is an abundance despite my cribbing so far! And though a wise man once said, ‘What’s in a name…’, a wiser woman said, ‘Names have power, speak them with caution!’ No points for guessing whom my vote goes to!

So here goes…H is for happiness…hopefully for author and readers alike 🙂
