I’ll be honest. This is probably my last post of the year. The ‘Season’ is well and truly upon us and in a couple of days, I’ll be off to Goa to indulge in its revelry! Well that is the plan anyway πΒ
2013 has been another fairly intense year. We moved – again. This time from Bombay to Bangalore and although it was stressful, we are slowly beginning to find our feet in our new home. I love that this house is large – probably larger than we need but it’s great to finally have space around us after being cooped up in a tiny two-bedroom in Bombay. The weather is great too – pleasant for the most part and pleasantly cool now – so it actually feels like a mild Winter π Junior’s school too has worked out for the best, although the daily 1-hour bus commute to-and-fro is a pain in the you-know-where! He’s settled in, likes his teachers, has got over his fear of water and is swimming (Hallelujah!), is enthusiastic about Homework (it will not last I’m told!), and is in general enjoying life π I’ve found a few new friends with potential π and am gradually unearthing the wealth of activity that Bangalore has to offer. I see a future full of possibilities provided I get off my lazy you-know-what! What more could I have hoped for?!
In this moment I feel good. I feel like Life is full of promise, like good things are on their way and I like that π Perhaps it’s the magic that December and Christmas always seem to bring. The Planet seems a better place with an abundance of empathy, compassion and general good cheer. Methinks we need it to be Christmas all year long! But then – it wouldn’t quite be ‘Christmas’ would it π We’ll see how long the magic lasts π My previous records aren’t too good! Mid-January is my guess π But until then – Magic Rules π
I hope you guys have had a good year too. If it’s been tough – I hope at least that the lessons you’ve learnt have been valuable. And I hope 2014 will be better for us all! Better is always good isn’t it? π And as always, I sign off with a unique wish from the inimitable Mr. Monkton, without whom I must confess I would have written even less than what I have! I hope our journey continues in 2014.Β
Have a Happy Season People! May it be full of Magic and Memorable Moments π
See you in 2014!
Y’know, it finally registered….that you aren’t in Bombay anymore! And btw, I like that you hang on to the original name, or would that be the colonial one? π
The idea of you having more space than you need to float around in is so very pleasant, and also that the weather is good π Bangalore is in the South isn’t it? We watched Chennai Express yesterday, which was only fun cos of Deepika’s charming accent and her iridescent wardrobe! Also, the South is absolutely beautiful.
Good to hear Junior has a grip on his homework and swimming! π Hope you have a wonderful time in Goa, and that you get time to take some pictures, and that the magic surprises you by prevailing long after mid-January! β€
Yeah! I thinks all this name-changing is silly and the newer spellings are just too long π Bangalore is beginning to feel a little like home…which is surprising because I don’t really know what that should feel like! I’ve lived in Goa most of my life and I guess that’s home by default but it rarely feels like it π Jesus! I’m rootless π³ but happily so for the moment ππ
Yes the South is beautiful and more importantly cleaner and safer than the North. I’m looking to many weekend getaways in 2014 – a fact that Hubby is blissfully unaware of ππ Really looking forward to Goa this time coz my BFF will be there too π You have a wonderful New Year too M!! May the magic sparkle over you and yours always π
Do you think that’s enough emoticons for a reply?? πππ
Home is where you feel right and you can have aerial roots…like a banyan tree! Or you could skip the whole tree-root thing and just be a bird, and perch and nest in any tree you wish!
You’re so lucky to have a BFF π
And your emoticon-packed words make me feel all is well with the world!
Aerial roots – great idea π Bird-like existence – even better π
Life *is* full of promise, and good things *are* on the way – even if some bad ones are, too! Can’t believe it’s the end of 2013 already. Seems like we just started this year a blink ago.
Glad Bangalore is feeling like home. We’ve moved around a lot in our adult lives (Tony and I, that is), and where we are now is the first place that really feels like home. I think we’re actually starting to sprout roots!
Looking forward to reading about your unrevealed weekend getaways! If I don’t talk to you between now and then, Happy New Year. And Merry Christmas, and all the season’s happiness I can bestow π π
It does doesn’t it?! And here we are again – another ending another beginning…the endless cycle of Life!
They’re a good thing right roots? Sometimes they frighten my restless spirit…the thought of staying put scares me out of my wits coz I’ve always thought wandering easy…but staying requires another brand of courage – patience, will power, dedication – big words, big commitment. Eventually I’ll get there I suppose π
I’ll see you on FB for sure! Have a Wonderful White Christmas in your Winter Wonderland/Narnia π π and may the New Year bring more happiness and magic than you could have imagined π And a Woofy Christmas to Petey π
